Proof Gold

Is there scientific proof that it is harmful for men to wear gold...?
I am currently in Pakistan and I wear some gold jewelry. It seems that is is a common belief over here that it is harmful to a man's health to wear gold, but not for a woman. This seems like one of the most illogical things I have ever heard. They claim that there is scientific proof of this. I have searched the net and have been unable to find any studies on this, let alone any proof. Does anyone out there know of any scientific PROOF of this claim? If so, I want to see it! I don't believe that such proof exists or can exist because I think it's complete non-sense. What I'm looking for here is:
1. PROOF that it is harmful for men and not women, or
2. PROOF that it is not harmful for either men OR women, or
3. PROOF that it is harmful for both men AND women.
I've already heard plenty of opinion on this issue, so now I want to see some proof.
There is no proof because it is not true. It sounds to be a cultural thing. Mr T is alive and well.
