My immunization record for College... please someone help!!!?
Okay.. here's my situation:
I have my immunization records. All my shots are up to date, however, as for my MMR (measals, mumps, and rubella) it says when I got my second dosage of the MMR, but not the first?
Make sense?
So, you have to have two doses of MMR, and have proof. I have proof of only my second dose. I need to show them proof of a first dose. I know I got it, because you can't get a second dose until you get a first dose, am I right?
I can't get ahold of my doctors because:
--- My 1st doctor retired, - sent the records to Doctor # 2
--- 2nd doc died, - sent records to Doctor # 3
--- 3rd doc moved to Maine -- and was supposed to send records to Doctor #4
^^^^^^^^^^^^^But doctor number 4 doesn't have any records.
Kristen,
If your records state that you received a SECOND dose, that should be an indication that you received a first dose before the second. You do not state whether you have been informed that you require written proof of the first innoculation or whether you are searching for it in order to have your proof of all your innoculations/immunizations on paper. However, if your records only show an innoculation/immunization without the word "second" then you will have to furnish that proof, somehow.
You may need to explain to your college authorities the details of your doctors unavailability that you have explained here.
The first dose of MMR is recommended at 12 months of age
The second dose of MMR is given at 4-6 years of age; however, a second dose of MMR is acceptable any time after the 1st dose providing there is at least 4 weeks between doses.
If a child has had a “measles only” vaccine on or after 1 year of age, the child still needs 2 doses of MMR.
Hope this helps
